Jam Session - CW
Grab your instruments (your pen and writing voice).
Warm up and find your groove (writing prompts).
Riff with your band (classmates).
This class is quick paced, flexible, and interactive. It’s all about stepping into the creative process with no plan, enjoying the ride, and harnessing the sparks of inspiration that happen when writers hang out together.
Prompts are all over the place, wide open to interpretation, and compressed to keep your imagination and pen moving every which way. Expect sprints, word pools, and short springboards that get you writing things you otherwise would not.
Riffing comes in when we share our writing and chat. You will extract nuggets from classmates, then reinterpret them in your own way. It’s amazing how creative energy expands when we’re together — Classmate A will write pure folly about a dog on rollerskates dragging an accordion behind, and Classmate B will isolate a line in there that inspires them to write a profound piece about restoring lost faith by dipping their soul into a crack in a sidewalk. Or vice versa.
As with all Constellations classes, we gather to expand our writing selves through enjoyment and support. We do not edit or critique.
Open to all writing levels, whether first timers or experienced sages.
Exercise prompts and formats are continually rotated and added to, so that you can repeat this course on an ongoing basis.
